Loch Carron   The White Cottage

The White Cottage is a traditional highland croft cottage, set in the village of Lochcarron on the west coast of the Scottish highlands. The cottage has beautiful south-facing views over the waters of Loch Carron (from which the village takes its name) to the hills beyond.
Although the cottage has been fully modernised, a number of the traditional features have been retained - the bedrooms have the original coombed ceilings, dormer windows and painted pine-lined walls, while the living/dining room has deep window sills and traditional sash windows.
Lochcarron which is on the West coast of Scotland, 63 miles due west of Inverness and due east of the Isle of Skye, is a good touring centre with the Applecross peninsular, Torridon hills, Gairloch’s sandy beaches and Inverewe gardens to the north, and Plockton, the bridge to the Isle of Skye, Glen Shiel, Loch Hourn and the Pictish brochs at Glenelg to the south.
The village has a golf course, fishing permits are available, as is boat hire in the area - and of course it is a superb area for hill walking and seeing wild life.
There is a paved terrace in front of the cottage surrounded by a low stone wall which gives a sheltered sitting out area with a view directly over the loch.
Lochcarron has a bank, post office, butcher’s shop, licensed grocer and a general merchant as well as gift shops, local potteries and Lochcarron Weavers.
There are also two hotels, a small restaurant, two local garages and two petrol stations in the village.
Large shopping centres are located in Dingwall (50 miles) and Inverness (63 miles).
